Hitting the slopes every chance we get is a big part of the CB winter lifestyle. But we get it, ripping through the resort isn’t for everyone. Luckily CB always has a buffet of activities to offer around every corner.
Nordic SkiingWith over 50 kilometers of groomed trails around town, there are plenty of options for all ability levels. SnowmobilingDo you prefer exploring areas using engine power versus human power? Maybe a snowmobiling tour is right up your alley. In the winter months, the roads around Crested Butte other than Highway 135, close due to weather. That is why most people turn to snowmobiles to go exploring or to get further into the backcountry. There are guided tours available as well as a few places that you can rent snowmobiles to go out exploring on your own.
Fat BikingFor those of us who love to mountain bike, fat biking is the winter alternative. It also keeps us in biking shape all year round. The Crested Butte Nordic Center offers 13 kilometers of groomed trailed that are open to fat biking and are free to use. There are additional trails offered by the Crested Butte Mountain Bike Association. Need to rent your biking gear? SnowshoeingIf you don’t like the feeling of sliding on the snow, and hiking happens to be one of your favorite summer activities, then you should give snowshoeing a try. Going on a snowshoe adventure allows you the opportunity to follow groomed trails as well as conquer some fresh areas without sinking up to your belly in the snow. The Crested Butte Nordic Center can point you to some great trails and can provide you with the rentals to get out there!

Grab a bite to eat- With so many great places to eat around town, it’s a good thing you are burning more calories with all that extra physical activity so you can indulge! Although you won’t find any chain restaurants that you recognize the name of, there are plenty of food options for even the pickiest of eaters (trust me, I am one of them).
Treat yourself to a Spa day- Relax by the warm fire while your friends and family finish their day of skiing. Feeling a little low on Oxygen? We have an Oxygen Bar that will help you acclimate to the altitude. Need to soothe your sore muscles for your previous days of physical activity? Go get a massage. Or… why not do all of the above?
