About the area of Crested Butte

The Crested Butte area is truly unique among resort towns. Situated at the end of a dead-end road and encircled by towering mountains, there is only one way in or out in the winter. (Summer provides some other dirt and 4-wheel drive options.) So, as you can imagine, we don’t get many people “just passing through”. Quite a few people come here because they like it this way, and that’s just fine by us.

Comprised of two towns – Mt. Crested Butte (the ski village) and the Town of Crested Butte (Colorado’s largest historic district), the area offers a wealth of recreation and beauty unmatched in the Rocky Mountains.

Summers here are explosions of color from the many wildflowers, and excitement from the many festivals that take place every year. Winters are all about skiing, and snowmobiling, and sledding, and ice-skating, and, well, you get the idea.

With our active ranching community, and outstanding open space preservation efforts, the mountain west heritage is here to stay.

We welcome you to spend some time in our little corner of the world, and stop by and visit us while you’re here. We’re located next to the Post Office at 215 Elk Avenue in historic downtown Crested Butte, or give us a call at (970) 349-5007.
